Onir’s I Am was supposed to release earlier this year but it’s been delayed for some reasons. But the director can take heart.

When Onir thought of his forthcoming production, I Am, an assemblage of four narratives on the theme of identity—Megha, Afa, Abhimanyu and Omar—he decided to style the stories differently and shoot them distinctly.

Though his first film ‘My brother… NIKHIL’ was well received at the box office, he has shunned the big producers, choosing to make films on his own terms. Onir speaks to Sayan Bhattacharya on his latest film ‘I am’.

Onir is an institution. I was a part of his direction team and I was happy to be a student there. Being around in his set, at his work area, around him; you get to learn so much.

Onir’s! Am is a film about four stories that deal with ordinary peoplecaught in extraordinary circumstances. It’s shot in four cities with each city providing a backdrop for a story in the film.

Actor Juhi Chawla made an exception for director Onir as she stepped out of her brother’s bedside to do a photoshoot for the movie. This is the first time that Juhi has done some work since the past two months ever since her brother Bobby started battling with coma.
